Even though outdoor entertaining on the North Coast of New South Wales is part of our lifestyle, sometimes it does present challenges. The hot sun can limit the hours you spend outside, and summer storms can put a dampener on the most well laid party plans. That’s why a patio roof or shade awning is so important.
Unfortunately, there is one more problem that a lot of us face. Insects. Flies and mosquitoes can drive anyone indoors. That’s why we recommend a screen enclosure to get the most out of your alfresco area.
Our client at Lennox Head had already upgraded their patio area to shelter from the sun and rain, and where using automatic fabric roller awnings to reduce the late afternoon sun.
But insects were a problem, as they are for many outdoor areas in Australia.
The client did not want to restrict the garden view, or to make the area feel claustrophobic. We decided after consultation that the best way to improve the area was with Screen Enclosure.
The screen walls were constructed from ceiling to floor and attached under the existing patio awning. White aluminium posts were used to match the décor of the house. The open construction meant that the outlook was not obstructed, and the feeling of being outdoors was maintained.

The screens have added extra protection from insects, but still allows the operation of the awnings.
Additionally, because the patio was now effectively an enclosed room, the client chose a security grille screen door to secure the room and provide access to the backyard.
Now the client has the ideal outdoor entertaining area. Shade from the sun, shelter from the rain, and a spot to sit and enjoy the cool breeze without the annoyance of flies and mosquitoes.
