Graham & Robyn from Lennox Head found they needed to utilise the front of their house for a carport to protect their car from the weather. The existing garage was used for storage (as is the case with most Australian garages) so the concrete driveway was the usual home for the car.

When a car is parked in the driveway it leaves it open to the elements. Most importantly is damage from the frequent North Coast storms in summer. More commonly, hot sun can leave the car uncomfortable in warmer months, and rain can drench you in your run for the house. Having a covered carport provides a convenient and stylish home for your vehicle.

Lennox Head Driveway before Carport Upgrade

The driveway of the house was open and exposed to the sun, meaning it was hot in summer. It also meant if it was raining, there was a pretty long dash to get under cover.

They called Atlas Awnings for advice on a carport which would fit in with the existing house. Geoff, our Design Consultant, spoke to them offering them two options: 1) a V-line skillion carport and 2) an Insulated Skillion carport. Graham & Robyn chose the 1st option because of the cost savings. They also decided on a chain downpipe at the front of the carport to keep within the modern character of the house.

Lennox Head Carport after completion

The finished V-Line skillion carport roof gave protection from the sun and rain, and also cooled the front of the house.

Atlas took care of everything, from obtaining council approval to the concrete footings, taking the stress out of managing a project like this. The finished product was a seamless professional addition to the house, a carport that ticked every box.

When contacted by Atlas Awnings the day following the completion of the carport, Robyn said they were extremely pleased with the outcome. She also commented on Alex, our experienced fitter, who was “fabulous”. “He is a credit, a lovely young man who worked hard”.
