John and Sue from East Ballina found they were restricted in the time they could use their existing alfresco area because of the biting insects which are rampant in this region. East Ballina gets the ocean breeze in summer, but it is also close to the Richmond River and the natural wetland areas. Mosquitoes and sand flies have ruined more barbecues than anything else.
The existing Ballina patio area was shady and private, but also quite dark and enclosed. The treated pine lattice did not prevent the insects from spoiling the outdoor gatherings.
The existing patio area was using treated pine lattice as a privacy screen. This tended to make the patio area feel more closed in, and natural light was blocked. The beautiful backyard could not be fully appreciated from the patio area.
They called Atlas Awnings to find a solution. Geoff, our Design Consultant, suggested fully enclosing the area with vinyl panel sliding doors to retain the view, control the breeze and block the rain. He also recommended midge mesh be combined with this solution to ensure insects would no longer be a problem.
To allow their beloved pets to use this room, Geoff also recommended perspex in the bottom panels to avoid any damage from sharp claws.
The new enclosed patio area with All Seasons Panels looks great and protects the alfresco enetrtaining are from insect, rain and wind.
This bright new enclosure allows John and Sue to enjoy their beautiful garden while relaxing insect free. The All Seasons Panels can slide to block the breeze if too cold, or opened to allow natural airflow through the whole area. The panels can also be fully closed in the event of a summer storm. The Alfresco area is now open to entertaining all year round in any weather conditions.
John and Sue were extremely happy with their new enclosure, saying the following on Customer Survey Form.
Neighbours have already been in to see (the) end result – all very impressed as are we. It has given us extra living space – no matter what the weather. Just love the sliding panels!
