This is a great example of how a simple gabled patio cover can transform a backyard.
Our client in Alstonville had a nice, private paved BBQ area that was well used. The problem was – as is the case with a lot of corner patios like this – the area was a trap for the sun. In a North Coast summer, an area like this can quickly become unusable, as guests head for a shadier spot inside.
This nice little outdoor entertaining area had problems with the hot summer sun reducing the hours available to relax by the BBQ.
After talking to one of our Atlas Awnings consultants, the client decided to go with a Gabled Patio Roof over the existing paved area. The 90×90 aluminium post was attached to a small concrete footing, allowing for minimal disruption to the lawn, or the beautiful garden aspect.
The roof was insulated to provide the greatest heat reduction available, and the colourbond guttering matched the existing decor of the house.
The resulting gabled patio roof provided a much more comfortable alfresco entertaining space, but also looked great.
The result was a great little BBQ area that was now sheltered from the rain and cool enough to enjoy all year round.
