Our clients in Ballina called us to discuss a common situation in most modern homes. They have a beautiful house, but a modest backyard and patio area. The patio may fit a dining setting, but the sun can become overpowering in summer and any rain will stop any outdoor activity quick smart.
The goals of this upgrade were to make the most of the space available, and make it useable in more types of weather.
The exisiting backyard had beautiful gardens, but the hot sun overpowered in summer. You can see the existing patio area was prone to any rain that blew in, making enmtertaining risky.
The first objective was achieved with a flat insulated patio roof to extend the usable area. The roof was extended out over the concrete pathway, and along to the back door to protect the entrance from rain. The roof was finished with a colorbond gutter, matching the existing décor of the house. Stylish aluminium posts and beams finished the outsides of new sheltered area giving it a much larger, cooler look to the backyard.
Once the patio roof extended the useable area, our clients decided to add All Season Panels to the outsides of new patio. When the warm weather comes, so do the mosquitoes and flies. To make the most of the outdoors, you need to keep the pests out.
The new alfresco area looks out onto the beautiful gardens, but is protected from insects and weather. The extended patio roof allows the patio furniture to be completely undercover.
All Seasons Sliding Patio Panels will allow the breeze in, while keeping the insects out. They panels also have the ability to close the sliding vinyl doors, meaning you are protected from the rain instantly. This makes it much easier to plan an alfresco area, as furniture can be placed close to the walls of the patio enclosure.
Finally, a security screen door added external access to the backyard. Because of the extended flat patio roof, the walkway is always under cover.
This whole job, from design to completion was handled by Atlas Awnings. We supply and install all products, allowing us to efficiently manage all stages of the project.
