Our clients in Alstonville were looking for a way to make their outdoor area much more usable. They had an existing patio roof over a nice polished concrete area, but it just wasn’t enclosed enough to be used regularly.

The high roof area allowed a cool breeze in, but was open to rain during stormy weather. The side of the house facing the neighbours property, was breezy, but it also wasn’t very private.

The beautiful landscaped gardens are still visible from the enclosed patio area. The style of the existing house was not affected by the installation.

They needed a customised solution to make use of the area, so they called Atlas Awnings.

In consultation with our design specialists, the final solution was a combination of All Seasons Sliding patio panels, and Aluminium Plantation Shutters.

The back side of the patio area looked out into a beautifully landscaped pool area, with views to the neighbouring parkland. The pool area was enclosed with a nice glass pool fence, so blocking off the view didn’t make sense. All Seasons Panels were chosen because of the ease of installation, and the versatility they provided.

The All Seasons Patio Panels provided a barrier to insects and weather, but kept the view unhindered.

All Seasons panels can be installed in various configurations to suit your situation. Our client chose to install a double door with fly screens, so the open space feel of the patio could be maintained. Insects could be blocked out by closing the screens, or the late afternoon breeze could be blocked by closing the vinyl sliding patio doors.

Above the panels, a Perspex insert was installed in the gable. This added a classy finish to the space and maintained the light open feel that was originally intended with the high ceiling.

The aluminium plantation shutters looked stylish, provided a privacy barrier, and caught the breeze down the side of the house on a hot summer day.

As a finishing touch to the installation of the patio panels, a Colourbond flashing was attached. This filled the gap between the original floor and the panels, leaving the area insect and weatherproof. This little addition final made the alfresco area an all year round outdoor room.

Louvres or fixed Aluminium Shutters were installed along the side of the patio area facing the neighbours. These were installed with flyscreen on the outside of the panels to keep the mosquito problem down. The louvres served multiple purposes. The louvres could be closed to create a privacy barrier from next door, and to shut out the cold. They could also be opened in the summertime to funnel air through the alfresco area. Because all the shutters are independent of each other, there are an infinite amount of configurations to get the breeze. Light and privacy settings just right.

The finished area created a fantastic new living room, all matching the style of the house. The protection from insects and the easy options for regulation the breeze meant the area was perfect in all conditions. We hope they are happy entertaining or relaxing on the patio for years to come.
