Belinda from Wollongbar required a new area near her pool to not only protect her outdoor furniture but to provide shade to a relaxing pool side retreat.

In the middle of summer, the pool is the best place to escape the North Coast heat, but sometimes the soaring temperature makes it too uncomfortable to bear. The sun can make the pavers too hot too walk on, and directly rays can test even the thickest 50+ sunscreen.

The existing pool furniture was very exposed to both the hot summer sun and rain. The area didn’t provide a great place to relax when out of the pool.

To extend the time spent out by the pool, Atlas recommended a free standing skillion roof. The single skin V-line structure was specifically designed by Atlas Awnings to blend with the existing house and colour bond fencing.

Because of the proximity to the pool, aluminium posts and beams were used to increase the longevity of the structure. PVC downpipe to the ground allowed for easy drainage and less pooling and splashing onto the furniture.

The final product achieved a good balance of framing the alfresco area, while maintaining the open space. It has made the outdoor furniture a separate entertaining space without overwhelming and cramping the main activity area of the pool.

The new pool shade cover has finished off the area nicely, as well as providing shade, shelter and a relaxing space to sit and watch the pool.

The skillion roof pool shelter has provided a nice addition to the home, and achieved the goal of protecting the furniture and providing a cool place to escape the sun.

If you think something like this skillion roof pool shade cover would work in your backyard, contact Atlas Awnings today and let one of our consultants help you decide.
