Phil and Joan were doing improvements to their house in Ballina and wanted extra car spaces to finish off the full renovation. They recently competed a gabled patio from Atlas Awnings, so wanted something to match the new and improved exterior.
Protection against the famous Northern Rivers weather was important, saving the cars from extremely hot summers and heavy storms. The extra space that a car port gives was also a high priority, as the existing garage was used for things other than cars.
To keep in-line with the modern look of the new alfresco living area, Geoff proposed an insulated roof carport. As well as providing the protection from the elements, The insulated roof would help to keep the front area cooler.
As Atlas Awnings provides many options for finishes, the client choice of posts and beams was easy. The existing house was white with grey trim, with hardwood feature posts, so this was matched by Geoff, our design consultant. Merbau was used for the hardwood posts, with grey colourbond guttering used for the trim.
Merbau is a popular hardwood, with its high degree of natural durability and strength it is used externally in construction.
The front area was completed with a dramatic focal point, a chain downpipe. An alternative to the PVC downpipe, the chain downpipe adds character to your home as well as being functional. It channels water to a container which is slowly drained.
With Atlas Awnings arranging the plans, engineering and Council Approvals, Phil and Joan could concentrate on the rest of the improvements.
The result was perfect for Phil and Joan who said:
“We couldn’t be happier. The carport is cool and fits perfectly in the new front yard. The end result was exactly what we imagined”.
